Mrs. Janna Grandle, Fourth Grade Teacher
My name is Janna Grandle and I am thrilled to be joining the John C. Myers team! I am a lifelong resident of the Shenandoah Valley and have a deep love and strong roots in our community. I am a graduate of Harrisonburg High School and Bridgewater College. After over a decade working for Nationwide Insurance, I decided to return to school to obtain my certification in elementary education in order to fulfill my dream of teaching children. I feel blessed that that path has led me to work at one of the best elementary schools in the County! When I am not at school, I enjoy traveling, baking, reading, playing and watching sports and especially spending time with my husband, Whit, and our children, Braelyn, Cole and Alyssa. Janna joined the fourth grade team in 2016.
Mrs. Kathy Moorman, Fourth Grade Teacher
After graduating with a degree in theater and working as a stage manager for several years Mrs. Moorman decided to pursue a career in education. Mrs. Moorman began her teaching career in Miami, Florida where she taught Pre-K for two years. She then moved to California, where upon completing a Master’s degree in Education she taught bilingual (Spanish) gifted fourth and fifth graders for the next twelve years. From 2000-2004 she began teaching part-time in various capacities in order to spend more time at home with her growing family including serving as the gifted teacher/coordinator for a middle school. After a few years as a stay-at-home mom, she returned to teaching Kindergarten full time in Miami.
Mrs. Moorman moved to Broadway in 2008 with her husband and three daughters and has loved teaching at JCMES. She enjoys outdoor activities including: camping, skiing, biking, canoeing, and hiking.

Her two favorite quotes are the following:
-- "The task of the modern educator is not to cut down jungles, but to irrigate deserts." -C.S. Lewis Regarding this quote she says, "My hope is to inspire children to instill a love for learning in their lives. I want to do more for my students than to just fill them with information!"
--"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart" -Jeremiah 11-13 Mrs. White stated that, "This is one of my favorite verses from my favorite book! It gives me peace and hope and is simply a way in which I try to live my life!"
Mrs. White's MOST favorite thing to do is spend time with her family for weekly family dinners at her parents’ house.
