Mrs. Carol Getz, TLC Reading Specialist
Mrs. Getz received her undergraduate degrees from JMU and EMU, and has her Master's Degree in Reading from JMU.
She began her teaching career at Elkton Elementary. She has been at JCMES for 8 years. Her favorite quote is "Your day usually goes the way the corners of your mouth turn!" Laughter makes EVERY situation better! Mrs. Getz says, "I love spending time with my son and daughter, who are both in their 20s. It is such a neat point in your life when your children become some of your best friends! I love, love, love hiking and kayaking, art and natural history museums, rodeos, and all plays, from Shakespeare to Spamalot! And of course, my life can never be complete without a stack of books at home at all times!"
Ms. Janet Neff, TLC Assistant
Ms. Neff graduated from Corning-Painted Post West High School (Corning, NY) in 1976. She then attended the University of Akron from 1976-1978. After graduation she went on to attend Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University from 1978-1980 and received her B.S. in Aviation Administration.
She first came to Rockingham County School in the fall of 1997 when she joined the teaching team at Fulks Run Elementary. After one year at the Fulks Run, Virginia school she transferred to John C. Myers in 1998 and has been here ever since.
Ms. Neff enjoys spending time with her two sons, Andrew and Alex.
Mrs. Jennifer Plogger, Title 1 Reading Specialist
Mrs. Plogger attended JCMES as a middle schooler and then went on to graduate from Broadway High School. She then completed her undergraduate work in social work at Va. Tech in Blacksburg, Va. From there she attended Mary Baldwin College and completed her teaching licensure requirements. Recently she received her Masters in Reading Education from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va.
Mrs. Plogger has taught 4 years at the Kindergarten level, 4 years at 1st grade and has served 3 years in the reading program.
Her favorite quote is, "True character is who you are when no one's watching." Mrs. Plogger says, " I think people should always be "true" to their personality and to themselves regardless of who is watching. I also believe in helping others "quietly" and not to seek recognition and/or praise."
Mrs. Jill Snider, TLC Teacher
Mrs. Snider attended Eastern Mennonite High School, Class of 1982. She then went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts from Eastern Mennonite University and graduated in 1986. She also has her Master of Divinity from EMU, Class of 1992. In 2012 she completed her requirements for her Master of Education in Reading Education from James Madison University.
In 2005 Mrs. Snider joined the John C. Myers team as a Literacy Assistant. In 2012 she became Reading Specialist and has served in this capacity since then.
Her favorite quote is,
“One book, one pen, and one teacher can change the world.” A quote from Malala Yousafzai, 2015 Nobel Peace Prize winner and young fighter for education for all people.
