Dear JCMES Families,
This week we are suddenly in the middle of September and that is exciting for a number of reasons. First, fall is so much fun! Our students are involved in many activities around the community and at home in the fall and it is such a joy to hear about all their interests outside of school. Second, we are inching closer to routine and having some of those “back to school” requirements like assessments and procedures and the introduction of all the new things behind us. Watch for the September spikes that are very normal but still can be difficult at times: Students love some things about returning to school but also miss the fun and relaxation of summer. They are TIRED (and sometimes cranky)! Students enjoy meeting new friends and might complain about others. It’s hard to learn to get along with a brand new set of classmates! They love some parts of their school day but others can be “boring”. It’s a roller coaster of emotions at the beginning of the year. Through all the back to school highs and lows, parents that listen, support, and push those early bedtimes and structured home routines help us so much at school. Your support has made the start to this year feel very positive to us at school. Thank you families!
Coming up soon at JCMES:
Tuesday, September 19th - Dominos Night - John C. Myers PTO receives 20% of the sales proceeds from orders when you mention JCMES on call in orders or enter the code DN6 at checkout for online orders.
Wednesday, September 20th - Fall Picture Day - These pictures will be used in the school yearbook and are taken from the chest up. It is recommended that your child wear a solid color shirt or one that has a small print. Logos and writing on the front would only be partially visible. Parents will receive a link for online ordering once proofs are available. Orders are online only this year.
Thursday, September 21st - Family Picnic Night from 6pm-dusk - Join us for our first ever family picnic night. Papers were sent home this week with details. Families are invited to come to school at 6pm on Thursday night. You may park around back and walk over to the track and playground area or park in the front and walk to the back through the school. The cafeteria will have hot dog meals available for purchase for $3. Each meal will contain a hot dog, bag of chips and a drink (caffeine free sodas or bottled water). This is simply a time to relax and socialize as a school family. Bring blankets or chairs, pack a dinner or buy one from the PTO and let the kids play! Hope to see you there!
Friday, September 22nd - No School for Students
Take care,
