Dear JCMES Families,
Believe it or not, we’re at the mid point of the first nine weeks already! Thank you for a smooth start to school. We’re ready to roll right into the fall!
Today was picture day! Your children looked absolutely precious with their bright smiling faces, all ready for the day. Our picture buying process is a bit different this year although the company, Strawbridge, is the same as in the past. Picture proofs will be emailed home in 2-3 weeks. The email will contain a student specific number and then when entered will display the child’s picture proof for the parent to see before ordering. The email will be sent to the first two emails addresses in PowerSchool that the parent completing the child’s school registration entered.
Thursday, September 21 - Family Picnic - Just one day until our fall family picnic! Join us tomorrow night beginning at 6pm for a school picnic! Families are welcome to bring their own dinner or the PTO will be providing $3 hot dog dinners (include one hot dog, bag of chips and a drink). You may park in the front and walk through the school to the playground/track area or park in the back. The picnic tables in the front are available to sit at as well but we know most kids will want to move to the back at some point to PLAY! This is a time of simple, unstructured fun! Come when you’d like, leave when you’d like. Also, you can PREPAY for our hot dog dinner by scanning the QR code below. This will help you to be able to move through the line quickly on Thursday to get to the fun!
First Responders Day is held each October and we are kicking off the month with our Walk to School event on Friday, October 6thby featuring first responders. At school our primary grades learn about community helpers which includes many first responders. If you are a first responder or know someone who may be willing to come help us greet families as they walk to school, please email Mrs. Branner or Mrs. Imbrescia. We have a small token of our appreciation for any first responders that walk with children on this day or would like to stand with us and greet them as they arrive. It is important for us that our students develop an awareness and respect for the helpers in our community.
Looking ahead:
Friday, September 22 - No School for Students
Monday-Friday, September 25-29th - Students that ride a school bus in the morning will practice safety evacuation drills next week. These drills are completed when students arrive in the morning one day in the fall and again in the spring. We will be practicing a safe back door exit in the event of an emergency on the school bus.
Friday, September 29th at 5pm - Homecoming Parade - Come out and join in our small town fun with the homecoming parade taking place from BHS all along Main Street. Many of our students participate in various floats and be sure to wave to our teachers that are walking to represent JCM!
Tuesday, October 4 - Chick-fil-A Spirit Night 5-7pm - The PTO will receive a portion of the proceeds from this night. Dine in or go through the drive thru and mention JCMES!
Take Care,
