Dear JCMES Families,
The holiday countdown is ON at John C. Myers! The halls are looking quite festive and the decorations seem to grow by the day. Classroom activities have a winter themed spin and the weather has caught up too! Today during car and bus arrivals it was snowing quite hard for a brief moment which was a fun way to start the day! This week we have a simple update to all the things from last week and a new newsletter from the PTO. Please take a moment to read through their newsletter. This group, which all parents are invited and included in, is a strong support for so many aspects of school from fundraising and volunteer opportunities to community building activities such as family fun events. Thanks for your support of our school!
This Week: We are a little over halfway through the second nine weeks. This is a good time to check PowerSchool for grade updates in 3rd-5th and for any parent to touch base with their child’s teacher about questions on progress or work that may be coming home. The second nine weeks ends in January not long after we return from break.
Book Fair - The school book fair ends on Friday, December 8th. The book fair will be open for evening shopping this Thursday, December 7th from after school until 6pm.
December 7 - 2nd & 3rd Grade Winter Music Program - Doors open at 6:15pm and the program begins at 6:30pm. Join us as we celebrate the holiday season with a musical program by our talented 2nd and 3rd graders. If you plan to visit the bookfair tomorrow please be sure to do this prior to 6pm. We want our friends that are performing tomorrow night to be focused on the program so we close the bookfair at 6 and reopen the doors at 6:15, ready to focus on the show!
December 8 - Book Cart (Grades 3-5) - Gently used books for sale for $0.25 each! Students visit during class. Grades PreK-2 book cart was held today.
Next Week:
December 11-15 - Bring Your Parent to PE Week Parents and caregivers are invited to join their child for PE during the week of December 11th-15th. We just ask that only one adult come each day (due to space) and that younger siblings stay home for this event. Check your email for this update with a link to the schedule. Parents, come ready to play!

December 19 - PJ Day! We gather together on our last day before winter break for a holiday sing-a-long in our PJs!
