Dear JCMES Families,
After a brief winter weather interruption yesterday, we are back in the swing today and sailing through a full week of school. January in school is known for a few things including snow days and mid year testing. A true mix of fun and hard work! Students in all grades will participate in various assessments in reading and math. We use the information from these assessments to determine how we will instruct students in the months ahead. Information on how your child is progressing this year will be shared briefly on report cards and can be discussed in more detail during parent teacher conferences on Monday, February 12 from 12-7pm. Be on the lookout for sign up forms to come home in the next week or two. Please read on for reminders on upcoming events including two new additions the last week of January where we’ll have a family evening event followed by an all day Space Camp adventure for students on our annual Day of Play.
Our PTO’s annual Shirley’s Popcorn Fundraiser is happening now! Fundraiser items will be delivered in time for Valentine’s Day gifts! Orders can be paid via cash, check (JCMES PTO), or Venmo (@jcmespto). Please make sure your child's name is in the memo for either check or Venmo. Fundraiser ends January 24th.

Tuesday, January 16th - Pizza & Paint Night PTO Fundraiser from 5:30-7:00pm - $20 a person that includes pizza and a canvas. Registration and prepay is required. Sign-up at bit.ly/jcmpaintnight23.
Friday, January 19th - Spirit Day White out or dress like a snowman!
Thursday, February 1st - Family Literacy Night - Space Adventure 6:00-7:30pm Get pumped for Day of Play by kicking off the fun with a family night, escape room style! This evening event is an exciting way for students and their families to practice reading skills together while earning some neat prizes and spending time together at school. Join us if you can!
Friday, February 2nd - Day of Play: Space Camp One of our students’ favorite days of the year is happening SOON! This jam-packed, fun-filled day has a different theme each year and this year we will be learning about all things space, planets, stars, the moon. We are super busy preparing for this event and need some parent help. In the next few days a separate email will come with a sign up link for volunteers and donations.
