Dear JCMES Families, We are so happy to be in school all five days this week and getting back into routine.  Snow days are fun and we enjoy the break but students benefit from the routine and structure.  We’ve noticed many students are still quite tired so getting to bed a little early could be helpful.  It might be surprising to hear how much sleep the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends elementary aged children to get each night: 9-12 hours!

Did you know our school has a special area that is filled with household toiletry items for families in need?  The hygiene closet contains soap, toilet paper, deodorant, laundry detergent, shampoo and conditioner, lotion, toothpaste, toothbrushes, body wash and more.  If your family could benefit from assistance with any of these items, please email jcmesnotes@rockingham.k12.va.us, reach out to a school counselor, your child’s teacher or an administrator.  Any of these people would be happy to help.  In addition, if you would like to donate to our hygiene closet for those in need, please reach out to our coordinator, Meagan Driver, at mdriver@rockingham.k12.va.us.

Thursday, February 1st - Family Literacy Night - Space Adventure 6:00-7:30pm Get pumped for Day of Play by kicking off the fun with a family night, escape room style!  This evening event is an exciting way for students and their families to practice reading skills together while earning some neat prizes and spending time together at school.  Join us if you can!
