Dear JCMES Families,

This week at school is jam packed!  Later this week we have three events going on that we hope you’ll either join us for or enjoy hearing about from your child.  Our biggest event is an all day “Space Camp” on Friday where we celebrate what is called Day of Play.  Each year we have a new theme and this year is of course, all things space! All students participate in stations throughout the day so we have asked for both donations of items and volunteers.  As usual, our families have shown up in a big way with supplies and volunteering time.  Thank you! We can’t wait to share pictures of all the fun!

Going on now….Yearbook orders! All yearbook sales will be done online this year. Go to the website below, select "Order Pictures and Yearbooks" and enter the online code "YB28937." Fill in the required information and payment, and you're all set!  If you order before February 19th, the cost is $15. If you order after February 19th the cost is $18.

Thursday, February 1st - Family Literacy Night - Space Adventure 6:00-7:30pm Bring all the family for an evening of reading fun at school.  Activities will be set up around the school, “escape room” style.  Solve literacy puzzles with your family, collect clues and win a prize!

Friday, February 2nd - 7:45-8:15am - Walk to School

Friday, February 2nd - Day of Play: Space Camp - Thanks again for the many donations of supplies and volunteers to help make this day a success!  We are READY for all the outer space fun!

Tuesday, February 6th - Parent Council Meeting - All interested parents are invited to attend a short informational session on Tuesday, February 6 from 6:30-7:15pm.  Our topic for this session is support services available at school.  A paper will be sent home with report cards that explains all different types of support services students might be receiving at school from reading support, small group social emotional learning opportunities, language services, special education, behavior support and counseling.  Our school counselors, reading and behavior specialists will share about each role and answer questions parents may have about ways we can support your child at school.   No RSVP on invite is needed.  This is open to all interested parents.

Wednesday, February 7th and Thursday, February 8th - PreK-2nd Bookcart on Wednesday and 3-5 on Thursday

Monday, February 12 - No School for Students; Parent Conferences from 12:00-7:00pm - Please reach out to your child’s teacher to schedule an appointment if you have not already.  We have mid year testing information to share with you and generally enjoy updating you on your child’s progress throughout the year.

Tuesday, February 13 - No School (Teacher Inservice Day)

Wednesday, February 14 - Valentine’s Day + 100th Day of School! Of course, if we miss school for some reason, the 100th day will shift to the next day(s).

Enjoy your week,
