Dear JCMES Families,
Thank you so much for helping our office staff by sending in transportation requests earlier. There was a HUGE difference last week. If you missed last week’s newsletter we are kindly asking that transportation related changes be emailed to the office staff by noon.
Attendance Update: The RCPS attendance policy requires meetings be held with families after 5 unexcused days or 15 absences of any kind. Thanks to our terrific parents and attendance clerk unexcused absences are very minimal. We do have quite a few students that have reached or are nearing the 15 absences mark and we are reaching out to schedule those meetings. If your child has reached 15 absences, please keep in mind that a doctor’s note may be required for subsequent absences. If your child is not feeling well in the morning but does not have contagious symptoms please consider bringing them into school late instead of missing the whole day. Sometimes extra time in the morning might be just what they needed and can help keep absences under the 15 day chronic absenteeism mark by not having a student miss the entire day.

Thursday, March 7 - Tuesday, March 12 - Our PTO Spring Auction begins tomorrow! Please see the attached handout with registration details for the auction site. We are so grateful for PTO members that have put in countless hours to source donations and create class plates as well as the community businesses and individuals that have donated to our auction. Tuesday, March 12 - Thursday, March 14 - PreK/K Registration - Please help us spread the word about our upcoming PreK and Kindergarten registration dates for next school year. PreK students must turn 4 by September 30 in order to be eligible (age 5 by 9/30/24 for kindergarten). Families will register online and are asked to bring their paperwork into school during the registration days. Wednesday, March 13 - Picture day is coming! Our spring pictures will be taken on Wednesday, March 13th. These are full length pictures with a spring background. Picture orders will be available online afterward.
Friday, March 15 - Last day to order yearbooks! $18 All yearbook sales will be done online this year. Go to the website below, select "Order Pictures and Yearbooks" and enter the online code "YB28937." Fill in the required information and payment, and you're all set! https://www.strawbridge.net/
Friday, March 15 - 4-7pm PTO Spring Auction Item Pick Up (located in the cafeteria - use the cafeteria door entrance where the pick up/drop off line is on the side of the school)
Tuesday, March 19 - Dominos Pizza Night to benefit the PTO - Be sure to enter DN6 when ordering online or mention JCM for call ahead orders.
Wednesday, March 20 & Thursday, March 21 - First and Fourth Grade Musical Program 6:30pm
*Our last music program featuring two gradelevels was a completely packed house! This time to ensure there is plenty of room for all the family members that would like to support their students, we have split the program into two days. Wednesday, March 20 will feature Mrs. Alyssa Green’s class, Mrs. Boyer’s class, Mrs. Hatcher’s class and Ms. Clifford’s class. Thursday, March 21 will feature Mrs. Lacey Clarke’s class, Ms. Bazzle’s class, Mr. Shifflett’s class and Mr. Grix’ class.
Friday, March 22 - Character Spirit Day! Wear your favorite character shirt or dress like your favorite character. No scary costumes or masks please.
Monday, March 25th - Monday, April 1 - No School - Spring Break!
