Dear JCMES Families,
Thank you for your flexibility in our schedule this week after the adjustment to make Monday an early release for the solar eclipse. Even very young students were excited to learn about this unique event and many students have talked about the eclipse throughout the week. A few of our students and a teacher even traveled to visit a location with totality! What an awesome experience!
This week’s newsletter contains several updates on spring picture proofs that were sent home last week and several family events coming up in April. We hope you’ll come watch our fifth grade musical next Thursday night which our fifth graders have written and will perform for families and guests. We also have a return of a beloved family fun evening event, International Night, later in the month where some families will showcase other countries they may have lived or visited as well as lots of games and activities for all.
One important addition to the newsletter this week is the class placement parent input form. At the end of this month, teachers will be creating class lists for the next school year. While the lists are not finalized until over the summer they are created in the spring. This is a very detailed process where many factors are considered. We would invite all parents to give input on their child’s class placement for the upcoming school year in the form below. Additional information is provided also on how class lists are created.
Reminder! Spring picture proofs were sent home last week. Order online with your child’s code on the proof package. Photos will be delivered to JCMES and sent home. Last day to order is April 15th!

Parent Input - Class Placements for 2024-25 School Year - Later this month we will be working on creating class lists for next school year. We’d love your input! Please use this form to provide input on your child's class placement for the upcoming school year. Class placements are created based on a complex list of factors including student academic ability to be thoughtful and balanced throughout each class, related services that require students to be pulled out of general education classes to be considered and balanced, student social emotional needs and placing students in classrooms where there are other students with similar interests in order for them to have peers to relate to. Please do not make requests for specific teachers. We will collect input forms until April 25th.

Friday, April 12 - Smile Virginia - If you signed your child up for the mobile dentist please ensure they are aware they will be visiting the dentist on Friday. The dentist will also be returning to JCM on May 6 for cleanings if not all students are able to visit on Friday or for additional procedures if needed.
Monday, April 15th - Last day to order spring pictures online at Strawbridge.net; Use the code on your child’s proof package to order
Tuesday, April 16th - Dominos Night to Benefit the PTO - Check out an update on the Dominos app! There is a ‘Coupon’ section where the fundraiser night coupon is available. Bonus: this will also show you what other coupons it can be combined with! The code to use for online or call in orders is DN6.
Thursday, April 22 - 6:30pm - Fifth Grade Musical - Written and performed by some of our fifth graders! Come out and see their amazing work!
Thursday, April 25 - 6:00-7:30pm - Family Fun: International Night - Join us with the whole family to learn more about cultures around the world, participate in games, dance, crafts and more!
Friday, April 26 - No School for Students
