Dear JCMES Families,
As we close out our last full week of April, we would invite you to join us at school tomorrow night for our final Family Fun night of the year. International Night will be held tomorrow from 6:00-7:30pm. Our committee of teachers has been working hard to create an evening where students and families are able to experience crafts, dance, and games from cultures around the world. We will have a special guest dance group from JMU and more than a dozen of our families will be showcasing a place in the world that is important to them through a cultural display in the gym. Come learn more about our own families and their traditions as well as other places throughout the world!
Save the date! The week of May 6-10th is National Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week. We have a special surprise planned each day that week as we celebrate all of the amazing staff at our school. This week is a great time to write a note of appreciation to a staff member that may have made a difference in your child’s life. Education is hard work and words of encouragement are treasured and greatly appreciated. If you’d like to contribute to our festivities for that week in a tangible way, consider signing up to help us “Stock the Lounge”. We’ll be providing various treats throughout the week and one way is to provide snacks and drinks for staff in the teacher’s lounge. Thursday, April 25 - Last day to submit parent input on class lists for the upcoming school year. Most grade levels will be working on creating lists during the workday on Friday so if you have any input you would like considered, submit by tomorrow! Parent Input Form
Thursday, April 25 - 6:00-7:30pm - Family Fun: International Night + Spirit Day! Join us for our evening event with the whole family to learn more about cultures around the world plus students are invited to wear something to school such as a souvenir shirt from someplace you love, have traveled to, or might like to go! Traditional clothing that celebrates family heritage is welcome too!
Friday, April 26 - No School for Students + Sweets Fundraiser Day! Stop by Sweet’s Ice Cream for a treat and help support the PTO which will receive a portion of the proceeds from the day!
Friday, May 3 - Walk to School w/ the animals! Start the day with some fresh air and adorable animals! We have several animals that will be joining us that morning but we would always welcome more! If you would like to bring an animal from your home or farm for students to visit or pet, please contact Jill Byler at jbyler@rockingham.k12.va.us. Thank you!
Monday, May 6 - Mobile Dentist Returns - The mobile dentist will be returning to JCM to finish cleanings and provide follow up procedures for those students that were signed up earlier in April.
