Dear JCMES Families,
Welcome back! We hope everyone had a fun, restful spring break. It’s hard to believe we’re already into April and heading into the final stretch of the school year. There is so much happening at JCMES this month!
Friday was scheduled to be our April Walk to School Day and a Touch a Truck event. Unfortunately, due to the high chance of rain in the forecast we will be postposting this event to our May Walk to School instead. Thank you to the parents and community members bringing vehicles for students to see. We hope you will be able to join us on May 2nd instead!
Trail Mix Fundraiser Update
Our second grade trail mix sales were a huge hit—thank you to everyone who supported this effort! After contributing to an upcoming second grade field trip, we are thrilled to share that $460 will go directly toward our school’s Snack Bag Program, helping to support students with weekend food resources. What a wonderful way for students to learn about giving back!
25-26 Class Placement Feedback Form
We’d love your input! Please use this form to provide input on your child's class placement for the upcoming school year. Class placements are created based on a complex list of factors including student academic ability to be thoughtful and balanced throughout each class, related services, student social emotional needs and placing students in classrooms where there are other students with similar interests in order for them to have peers to relate to. Please do not make requests for specific teachers. We will collect input forms until April 25th.
SCA Spring Swap – April 26
Clean out your closets and join us for the Spring Swap on Friday, April 26th, from 8–11am in the JCMES cafeteria. Families are invited to come browse and take home gently used clothes, household items, toys, and more—all free! It’s a great way to share and support one another. Items may be sent to school through next week.

This week is Assistant Principal Week, and we want to recognize our amazing AP, Mrs. Chelsea Imbrescia! Mrs. Imbrescia is kind, hardworking, and truly one of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet. Children adore her, and she brings so much love and dedication to our school each day. We are incredibly lucky to have her on the JCMES team.

We receive a lot of information about upcoming camps, learning programs, and community events for students over the summer. To help families stay in the loop, we’ll keep this Summer Opportunities page on our website updated as new information comes in. Be sure to check back often for the latest resources!

April 10 – Book Cart: 3rd–5th $0.25 per book; Our last bookcart of the year will be on May 1 and 2. Unlimited quarter books!

April 18 & 21 – No School
April 22 – Bus Driver Appreciation Day
April 23 – PTO McDonald’s Night (4–7 PM, New Market location)
April 24 – First Grade Music Performance, 6:30 PM
April 26 – SCA Spring Swap, 8–11 AM
April 28–May 1 – Spring Family Picnics
May 8, 14, 20 - SOL Testing Dates for Grades 3-5
