Dear JCMES Families,
We hope everyone enjoyed a relaxing long weekend and had some quality time with family and friends! This week at JCMES, we’re continuing to settle into our school routines and diving into academic content. Be sure to check out the information below for upcoming events over the next week—we can’t wait to see everyone on Friday morning for our first Walk to School event!
September 5th: Our first Walk to School morning will be held on Friday, September 5th from 7:45-8:13am, weather permitting. This is a monthly event where families are simply invited to walk to school from their homes or the nearby church or school parking lot. It’s a great way to start the day with some fresh air, fun music, and exercise! We sometimes have special guests or other activities happening too. Our first Walk to School of the year does not have a theme but we invite students to wear their new JCMES shirt if they would like. If your home is not within walking distance of the school, you are invited to park at Sunset Church and walk up to JCMES.
September 11th - On Patriot Day we will be wearing red, white and blue and many classes will be talking about heroes in our lives and community. 9/11 is an important day in our country’s history, and we will keep the emphasis at school on learning about the great United States and heroes around us.
Attendance Reminders-September is an important time for building strong school routines, and being here on time all day makes a big difference. Many teachers are giving classroom growth assessments this month, which help us plan the best instruction for each child. Consistent, on-time attendance helps students settle in, feel confident, and succeed at school. Just a quick reminder that parents need to notify the office two weeks in advance of a planned absence in order for it to be considered pre-arranged.
Important Future Dates:
September 18th: Family Welcome Back Picnic @ 6:00pm
September 26th: Fall Picture Day
October 14th: PTO Meeting @ 6:30pm in the Library
We hope everyone has a great evening!
