It was such a joy to see so many of our Jakes cheering and smiling at the Homecoming parade on Friday. We’re excited to share our regular Tuesday update—there’s so much we’re excited to share as we head into this fun fall season together.
Unity Day–Wear Orange
This month in guidance lessons students have been talking about ways they can stomp out bullying by showing kindness to others. We invite everyone to wear orange tomorrow, October 22nd, to celebrate Unity Day. Check out the bulletin board showing students’ ideas about how they can work together to stomp out bullying.
Spirit Week Dress Up Days are Coming!
Next week, from Oct 27-Oct 31st, our SCA is sponsoring Red Ribbon Spirit Week, a time to celebrate and have a little fun with dress up days to show our commitment to staying drug-free. Please leave scary costumes and masks at home. Here’s the schedule for the week:

We’re so grateful for the many families who help make our school feel like a community, and we’d love to invite you to get involved in whatever way fits your schedule. In this Google form, you can let us know if you’re interested in supporting the PTO by donating teacher snacks, greeting families at fundraiser nights, helping with events like Field Day, or assisting with the annual auction. Every helping hand—big or small—makes a meaningful difference for our students and staff!
Family Life Education Materials
4th and 5th grade Family Life Education materials will be available for parent preview in the front office on October 24th from 8:30am-3:30pm. Family Life Education materials can also be found here on the county’s webpage. If you need an alternate time to view materials, please reach out to jrinker@rockingham.k12.va.us.
If you want your child to participate, you don’t need to do anything. If you’d like to opt your child out of the instruction, please email jrinker@rockingham.k12.va.us or lcoffman@rockingham.k12.va.us for an opt-out form. Opt-out forms need to be returned on or before October 27th. Fourth grade families, be on the lookout for a Seesaw message later this week from Nurse Runion with specific information. Fifth grade families will receive more specific information closer to the time of instruction.
