Parents and Guardians,
It has been wonderful to see all the smiling faces upon returning to school yesterday. While mother nature threw us a curve ball last week, we are thrilled to have our building full again.
Due to the lingering snow and unreliable sidewalk conditions throughout the local community, Walk to School on Feb. 6th has been cancelled. We plan on hosting the next walk to school event on March 6th. Broadway Coffee House Parent Social is still on from 8-9. PTO representatives will be present to answer any questions and meet families.
Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten Registration
The time has come to start registering students for Pre-K and Kindergarten for the 2026 - 2027 school year. Registration will begin February 24th. Online registration will open the week of February 23rd. Families should register at rcps.net prior to coming in. PreK students must be 4 by September 30, 2026, Kindergarten students must be 5 by September 30, 2026.

Thursday, February 26th 9-3
New View in the Vestibule
You might notice a new view in our vestibule. Our county office has provided all RCPS schools with new one-way security stickers for our vestibule windows. These specialized coverings allow our students and staff to see out into the entryway while keeping the inside of our building private from visitors, adding a wonderful extra layer of safety to our daily routine. We truly appreciate this thoughtful upgrade that helps keep our learning environment secure and focused on our children.
Smart Tech & Our School Day
To help all our elementary students stay fully immersed in their classroom discoveries, we kindly ask for your support in keeping personal cell phones and smart technology, including watches, at home. While these gadgets are impressive, they often create unintended distractions that pull our children's focus away from the hands-on learning and social growth that happen throughout the school day. You can review the full RCPS School Board policy here for more details, and please remember that our front office is always available to relay any urgent messages or transportation updates to your child.
School Counselor Appreciation Week Feb 2nd - 6th
This week, we are excited to celebrate National School Counseling Week and honor the incredible impact Mrs. Hull and Mrs. Inukihaangana have on our students' lives. We are so fortunate to have a team who work tirelessly to support our children’s emotional well-being, academic growth, and personal success. Please join us in sharing your gratitude through email or SeeSaw for their dedication to making our school a kind, supportive, and encouraging place for every student to thrive.
Kindness Week: Feb 9-13
During kindness week, JCMES Student Council will be selling Valentine’s Grams. Students & staff have the opportunity to purchase a bracelet, unique eraser & a note for someone special. These will cost $1.00 and the proceeds will go towards the SPCA. A donor will match the amount made by the SCA. Support your school, SCA & a local animal shelter.
Math Night - Feb 18th 6:30 - 7:30
PTO Paint Night
February 24 from 6-7 the JCMES PTO will be sponsoring a paint night with our very own Mrs. Flores. Mrs. Flores will guide participants through a directed paint. Participation is $5 per person, all painting supplies will be provided. Registration is required for this event to ensure we have the proper amount of supplies. Mark your calendar now and the registration link will be shared soon.
