Happy Kindness Week! The Virginia Department of Education recognizes this week as Kindness Week, and we want to celebrate the incredible heart of our school community and invite you to join the fun at home. We challenge every family to find one simple way to spread joy together this week, whether it’s writing a "just because" thank-you note to a neighbor, choosing old toys to donate, or leaving a cheerful chalk message on your sidewalk. We can’t wait to hear the stories of how our students are leading with kindness both in the classroom and across our neighborhoods!

Kindness Week: Feb 9-13
During kindness week, JCMES Student Council will be selling Valentine’s Grams. Students & staff have the opportunity to purchase a bracelet, unique eraser & a note for someone special. These will cost $1.00 and the proceeds will go towards the SPCA. A donor will match the amount made by the SCA. Support your school, SCA & a local animal shelter. No Glass or Balloons Allowed on Buses
Since Valentine’s Day falls on a Saturday this year, it’s the perfect opportunity to celebrate big at home over the weekend! As a reminder, no glass vases or balloons are allowed on bus transportation to ensure a safe ride for everyone. We can't wait to hear all about your wonderful Saturday family celebrations when students return on Monday!
Sound of Music Preview Performance Cancellation
Due to a wave of illness affecting the cast, the high school has made the difficult decision to cancel tomorrow’s Sound of Music preview night to help their performers recover for the weekend. They still want you to enjoy the show, so please email Jaimie McGovern (jmcgovern@rockingham.k12.va.us) with your planned group size, and she will add you to a list to honor the $5 preview ticket price for any weekend performance. They can’t wait to see you at the theatre!
Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten Registration
The time has come to start registering students for Pre-K and Kindergarten for the 2026 - 2027 school year. Registration will begin February 24th. Online registration for 26-27 will open the week of February 23rd. Families should register at rcps.net prior to coming in. Please make sure you are registering for the 26-27 school year. PreK students must be 4 by September 30, 2026, Kindergarten students must be 5 by September 30, 2026.

PTO Paint Night
February 24 from 6 - 7 the JCMES PTO will be sponsoring a paint night with our very own Mrs. Flores. Mrs. Flores will guide participants through a directed paint. Participation is $5 per person, all painting supplies will be provided. Registration is required for this event to ensure we have the proper amount of supplies.
