We’re loving the energy here at school for our last full week of October! Reminder that there’s no school for students on November 2nd or November 3rd.

How We Shine in the Cafeteria!

Lunchtime is a great part of our day, and we are focusing on how we can work together to make our cafeteria a fantastic place to eat and recharge! Please talk with your student about how we make lunch a success every day:

  • How we sit for success: We keep our bottoms on the seat with our knees tucked under the table so everyone has plenty of personal space.

  • How we keep everyone safe: We enjoy our own delicious lunches and save our food for ourselves to help protect friends with food allergies.

  • How we show respect: We listen carefully and politely to our cafeteria monitors whenever they are giving directions.

  • How we save our energy: We save our exciting recess energy for the playground and focus on safe, calm choices while we eat.

Thank you for helping us practice how to be cafeteria champions at home!

Costume Guidelines & Upcoming Dress-Up Days

Monday-Anything but a Bookbag

Tuesday- Look Alike Day

Wednesday-Mix Match Day

Thursday-Neon Day

Friday-Book Character Day

We love seeing our students’ creativity this week!

Our annual Book Character Day will be on Friday, October 30th. On this day, both students and staff are invited to come to school dressed as their favorite book character.

Your family might be starting to shop or craft Halloween costumes. If they’re planning to also wear that costume to school for Book Character Day on October 30, please keep our school-wide safety and comfort guidelines in mind. To ensure a safe, fun, and distraction-free environment for all students, the following items are not permitted at school:

  • No Inflatable Costumes: These create space and visibility issues in hallways and classrooms and can prevent students from sitting in class and lunch.

  • No Face Masks: Staff must be able to identify all students easily.

  • No Scary or Overly Gory Costumes: We want to keep the day fun and welcoming for our younger learners.

Upcoming Parent Teacher Conferences

Parent Teacher Conferences will be held Monday, November 2nd from 12:00-7:00pm. We would like for every parent to attend conferences if possible so that we can share report card information and beginning of the year data. Make sure to reach out to your child’s teacher to schedule a conference. Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Celebrating Our "One Book, One School" Adventure!

We have officially wrapped up our schoolwide reading of The Chocolate Touch! Our students had a fantastic time diving into John Midas's sweet story. Ask your student about some of the fun ways we celebrated:

  • Sweet Beginnings: We kicked off our reading journey with a special student treat trolley!

  • Trivia Champions: Students earned chocolate coins by answering daily story trivia questions.

  • A Magical Touch: A few items (and even Mrs. Rinker!) in our hallways magically got "chocolate touched"!

  • Deep Connections: Classes compared John's story to the classic myth of King Midas.

A huge thank you to our Title I Reading Team and the Holly Hatcher Educational Foundation for making this schoolwide reading event possible and showing our students how exciting reading can be!

Happy Fall!
